Piano musicians, enthusiasts and music lovers in the kingdom can look forward to an entertaining event at the City Centre Bahrain this weekend.

Smart Rhythms, a three-day music festival organised by Ambassador Stores and Yamaha, marks the launch of the new Yamaha Clavinova smart app-driven digital piano models.

The event will feature spectacular live performances by world-renowned digital piano specialist from Yamaha Peter Baartmans.

Born in the Netherlands, Mr Baartmans started playing music at the age of six. Very early in his career, he began playing jazz music in several jazz-combos and was the main pianist in a popular Big Band and played keyboards for many well-known Dutch musicians.

In 1985, he began playing concerts for Yamaha digital pianos and keyboards all over Europe.

He now does presentations and concerts for Yamaha Corporation, taking his musical mixture of classical, jazz and pop to audiences around the world.

His great experience as a versatile musician, unique style of presentation and the superb sound quality of Yamaha’s latest smart digital instruments, all result in a unique and remarkable performance.

The event is an exciting opportunity for piano enthusiasts, amateur pianists, professional piano teachers, local music school students and the public to play their own music on the latest pianos.

Adults and children aged as young as four can take active part in the live on-the-spot performances, while instant Yamaha-branded giveaways will be presented to promising musicians who play their own ‘live’ music pieces.

Those keen on purchasing the new Clavinova smart digital pianos will be presented with exclusive time-bound discount coupons to be redeemed at the iconic Ambassador Stores showroom.

Specialised music experts will provide valuable insider tips and inputs regarding the latest features of the new series and other musical instruments on display.

The new series connects the piano to the user’s smart devices with the Smart Pianist app which enables the audio-to-score function – the first of its kind in the world – to instantly and automatically create 40 different varieties of piano accompaniment scores from songs.

Additionally, stream lights moving towards each key, show users which notes to play and when to play them.

The Clavinova series also features a high-quality keyboard, speaker system, and a broad range of sounds, including Yamaha’s top-of-the-line CFX concert grand and the legendary Bӧsendorfer Imperial.

Reducing the number of electronic buttons on the pianos to a bare minimum gives the instruments a refreshingly uncluttered and stylish appearance and users can enjoy superb performance with the touch and feel of an acoustic grand concert piano.

Yamaha’s latest offering – the Sonogenic SHS-500 or the ‘Keytar’ (keyboard plus guitar) – is a new type of instrument that is perfect for music lovers who want to participate in making music, but have not learned how.

The ultralight retro-looking instrument weighs less than 1.6kg and runs on batteries, giving you the freedom to dance, jump and move around while playing.

For the Jam Mode, simply connect the instrument with the free app Chord Tracker, and play along with songs stored on your smart device.

Featuring 30 different instrument voices, from synthesisers to drums, the SHS-500 lets you play any type of music you desire with the very latest connections to smart devices, such as MIDI, USB and Bluetooth.

“We are excited to launch the new products from Yamaha in Bahrain,” said Ambassador Stores manager Latesh Chandra.

“Both professionals and students can enrich their performance with these new-age instruments.

“We have always been trying to cater to the varied needs of Bahrain’s audiophiles and musicians by bringing some of the world’s best musical instruments and high-end audio brands to the kingdom.”

Ambassador Stores showcases high-end audiovisual brands like Yamaha, Shure, Sennheiser, Audio-Technica, Bowers & Wilkins and Kilpsch Audio Technologies.

It is also the sole distributor of Seiko and Alba watches in Bahrain.
