Urogynaecology expert joins RBH


Royal Bahrain Hospital (RBH) has announced the joining of minimal access gynaecology and urogynaecology consultant Dr Harnek Rai to its obstetrics and gynaecology team.

Dr Rai has been practising as a consultant in the UK for the past 16 years and has more than 25 years of experience in the field of obstetrics and gynaecology.

With qualifications from Ninewells Hospital and School of Medicine, University of Dundee, the UK, Dr Rai obtained his minimal access experience and undertook a fellowship in Sydney, Australia.

He was also awarded the fellowship of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, London, in 2009.

Dr Rai is specialised in managing and treating various gynaecology and urogynaecology conditions which include all female urinary incontinence (bladder neck injections, intravesical botox, colposuspension, cystoscopy with urethral dilation), female vaginal prolapse (vaginal wall repairs, vaginal hysterectomy, sacrospinous fixation and sacrocolpopexy) and minimal access surgery of various gynaecology symptoms such as endometriosis, hysterectomy, prolapse surgery, ovarian cysts and ectopic pregnancy.

He also specialises in menstrual disturbance investigations and management which include hysteroscopy and endometrial ablation, removal of uterine polyps and post-menopausal bleeding.
