Shaikh Nasser ‘expected’ to feature in Ironman 70.3

It’s widely expected that His Majesty the King’s representative for Charity Work and Youth Affairs and Supreme Council of Youth and Sports chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa will take part in the highly-anticipated Ironman Middle East 70.3 Bahrain Championship, to be held on Saturday near the Avenues Mall.

“The Ironman Middle East Championship is considered among the most important sport events that are being held in Bahrain as it contributes to supporting the sport entertainment industry in Bahrain and make the kingdom the capital of youth and sport. Such events attract youth and put Bahrain under the limelight to showcase its modern achievements and developments,” Shaikh Nasser said.

Ironman Middle East 70.3 Bahrain attracts many Ironman champions from all around the world, all of whom are looking to achieve the best results.

“The participation of many champions in this event comes as part of their beliefs in the importance of featuring in top championships, notably the ones hosted by the Kingdom of Bahrain which has become the home of the triathlon,” Shaikh Nasser added. “We see huge interest from athletes from both genders to compete in the Ironman Middle East 70.3 Bahrain Championship, an indication of which the level of their preparations.”

Shaikh Nasser will face a new challenge and will attempt to add a new achievement to his stellar career.

In his first appearance in an Ironman event, he finished 27th in his age group. He then participated in another Ironman event, this time in Florida, where he clocked in 10:27:31 hours and finished 18th in his age group. In his third Ironman participation, Shaikh Nasser achieved sixth place in his age group in the event which took place in South Africa. Shaikh Nasser then secured a new personal record time while competing in an Ironman event in New York. Moreover, he set a new record at the GCC level in 2018 during his participation in the Triple Crown Championship which took place in Dubai, completing the event in 04.09.27 hours. In the same year, he finished first in the Texas Ironman Championship, posting a time of 09.06.52 hours.
